How To Control Windows Audio When Making Skype calls.

When you make a voice or video call on your computer using programs such as Skype, your Windows audio like notification sounds, as well as those from other programs running in the background will be reduced by 80 percent.

Sometimes, however, you’ll want the person you’re calling to hear the audio on your computer, for example, if you want to play them an audio clip.

Control Windows Audio While Making Voice or Video call.

To change the Windows volume level during calls, go to Control Panel by clicking on the start and search for the control panel.

Next, open the ‘Hardware and Sound’ category, then click on 'manage audio device’ in the sound section.

Select the Communications tab and you’ll see four options. If you want Windows audio to continue playing as normal when making calls, ‘Do nothing’, but bear in mind this may make it hard for you to hear the person you’re calling.

We find selecting ‘Reduce the volume of other sounds by 50% is a good compromise.

Alternatively, if you don’t want any interruptions, you can silence Windows audio during calls by choosing ‘Mute all other sounds’. When you end the call, your Windows audio will return to its original level.
