Apple’ 5G iPhone May Come on a Custom Antenna.

Apple iPhone

It has been found that Qualcomm’s antennas are too big for Apple 5G iPhone and now Apple is manufacturing their own antenna module that will be used in its 5G iPhone models. Apple is going to design and manufacture the phone’s antenna itself.

Apple scoffed at the QTM 525 millimeter-wave antenna module which Qualcomm is offering but the Qualcomm’s antenna size is not satisfying company new Apple 5G iPhone design. Apple needs a smaller antenna for its upcoming 5G iPhones and company has decided the design the antenna by itself.

However, Qualcomm will still provide the 5G modem chip used in the new iPhone.

It could default to this choice in the not so distant future, our source said. However, if Apple uses Qualcomm antenna then they have to satisfy with a marginally thicker iPhone than it needs. Qualcomm has said that it's QTM 525 receiving wire module will "support 5G cell phone structures sleeker than 8 millimeters thick", the report included.

It is expected that Apple is going to launch four new 5G iPhone models with different display size in the year 2020. Many ongoing reports claimed that the iPhone 12 may come in three different size variant including 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch, but Apple will release two distinct 6.1-inch models, as indicated by a source.

The 6.7-inch model may have thickness around 7.4mm, which is around 10% thinner than the iPhone 11 Pro Max and it is also claimed that the 6.7-inch model is going to somewhat taller than iPhone 11 Pro Max.
