Microsoft planning to launch Antivirus Software for Android and iOS.

Microsoft Antivirus Software

Microsoft is planning to introduce an antivirus software to Android and iOS systems. The preview of the antivirus software will be showcase during the RSA Conference which is going to held from February 24 to February 28. The main aim of Microsoft is to provide security solutions to millions of active iOS and Android users. Microsoft Defender which is now known as Windows Defender for Windows users was introduced back in 2006 and successfully protecting Windows users from malware threats worldwide.

According to a post by the company on Thursday, the Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) is not only able to protect the users from threats from third-party apps but also share analytics to Microsoft to “view and manage threats across Microsoft for future”.

Microsoft corporate vice president Rob Lefferts told CNBC, “ The iOS and Android operating systems are pretty safe but  pretty safe is not the same as safe. Malware does happen on those platforms” he said adding the Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) feature will tackle phishing attempts.

It is still unknown about when and how Microsoft is going to launch Defender app for Android and iOS.

Earlier this week, the company launched its all-in-one Microsoft Office app for Android and iOS device, yet not available for tablets and Chromebooks. The one single Microsoft Office app gives access to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Last year, Microsoft also partnered with Samsung to sell smartphones with pre-installed Microsoft Android apps.
