5 Alternative to Zoom App for Video Conference and Online Meeting.

Video Conference.

Zoom is a great platform for online meetings and video conferences during this lockdown period were people are staying at their homes to stop the spreading of Coronavirus.

Zoom app pulled in more than 200 million daily active users last month and users is increasing day by day. However, even with this rapid growth, the Zoom app has several security concerns. Many big companies like Google have restricted their employee using the Zoom application. In many countries, the government has banned the use of the Zoom app for online classes. The Indian government also warned its official and all educational institutes from using the Zoom app for teaching.
However, an alternative of the Zoom app is required to continue online classes and video conferences so we can continue our work from home.

Here I am suggesting five best alternatives to the Zoom app for online classes and video conferences.

1. Cisco Webex Meetings.

Cisco Webex Meetings

Cisco Webex is a company that develops and sells web conferencing and videoconferencing applications. It has applications like Webex Meetings, Webex Teams, Training Center, Event Center, Supports Center, Sales Center, MeetMeNow, PCNow, and many more.

Cisco is offering free access to its Webex Meetings in all countries and helping people to work from home. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, people are bound to work from their home even all colleges and institutes classes are going online. Cisco Webex Meetings is one of the best options to use.

Cisco Webex

It is completing free to use with enterprise features like unlimited usage with no time restrictions. It supports up to 100 participants at a time with Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) capabilities. You just have to sign up once on the Cisco Webex to use all Webex meeting facilities.

2. Skype Meet Now.

Skype Meet Now

As it is known that Skype is own by Microsoft and they already have their own platform for a business called Microsoft Teams. But now Skype’s Meet Now tool is aiming both the users who want to have a video call with friends and family and small businesses who are looking for some cheap solution for video conference or online meetings.

Skype Meet is a good alternative to Zoom if you don’t want to go with Cisco Webex. You don’t have to create an account and you don’t even have to download any application to use Skype Meet. To use Skype Meet you have to follow three simple steps shown below.

Skype Meet

It allows 50 participants in one time and all for free and you can invite anyone even if they’re not on Skype. You’ll also get additional features like the ability to record calls, blur background before entering the call, and screen sharing.

3. Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams is a platform for video meetings and chats and it also provides file storage with collaboration with office apps. It is also available for free during the pandemic to help people who want to work from home during this lockdown period. The free version of Microsoft Team has features like unlimited chat and search, unlimited audio, and video call and it also provides 10GB of team file storage with 2GB of personal file storage per person. You can enjoy the real-time collaboration with Office apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote but for this, you have to create an Office 365 account.

4. Google Hangouts.

Google Hangouts.

If your requirement is very less and you don’t want to go with another application I discuss above then you can go with Google Hangouts. It is a good alternative to Zoom if you have fewer participants for video calls as Hangouts supports video calls with up to 10 participants or chat with up to 150 participants at once. To use this service you just need a Gmail account which I guess we all have today. If you are ready to pay a small amount then you can increase the number of participants allowed for a video call.

5. Google Meet.

Google Meets

Google Hangouts Meet or Google Meet is a paid video conferencing service, provided as part of G Suite. It is the business-oriented version of Google’s Hangouts platform and is suitable for businesses of all sizes. It allows 30 participants at a time to have a high-definition video calls meeting.

The participants can join the pre-scheduled meetings from calendar events, choose a link, enter meeting code, and even with a phone number if the invitation includes a phone number. It also provides some essential features like mute and turns off the video during the meeting. It is very similar to Google Hangouts video chat service but Meet allows more participants and is especially for business conferences and online meetings. Meet can be found at meet.google.com.
